I half expected his Lordship to arrive in a chauffeur driven limo but he vroomed up in a beautiful, lady pulling Mercedes sports car.
Timothy was laden with gifts. He is such a lovely man and very interesting to talk to. What Tim doesn’t know about Northern Ireland heritage, country estates and old churches isn’t worth knowing.
Anyway, back to meeting and greeting. After introductions to Clare Bear (aka Baby Numpty), Ronnie and Rita and a wee glass of champagne we four hungry hounds went to Millside for dinner. As usual they excelled themselves. The girls, (Michelle and Róisín) are just so nice and helpful and more than happy to accommodate diners who want to deviate from the menu options and create their own special.
We hounds shared starters of Duck Spring Rolls, Fried Brie with a delicious mixed berry compote and Garlic Mushrooms. Yum, yum, yum.
Tim and I had the Special Fillet that comes with mash and creamy mushroom sauce, CB chose the Peppered Steak and the husband had the Sirloin with pepper sauce. We had side orders of French Fried Onions, Caesar Salad, Buttered Mushrooms and Cheesy Bacon mash. We all agreed we were stuffed but guess what? Who could turn down Sticky Toffee Pudding and Chocolate Fudge Cake? Not us.
OMGoodness! What a feed. Millside is a great spot for casual dining and one can bring your own alcoholic drinks as they don’t have a liquor license. They also cater for parties and are happy to decorate the seating area for birthdays. Just so you know … we are not on the payroll.
On Saturday it was off for a pre-match lunch at Ballymoney Rugby Football Club courtesy of Mr Aidan Harrigan of Harrigan Fuels. BRFC sure know how to put on a day of treat after treat. The lunch of chicken & ham with stuffing, mash, veg and gravy was followed by a choice of apple crumble and custard or cheese and crackers with tea and coffee. It was enough to make me want to lay down for a nap. As for the company! In alphabetical order … said Aidan, Alan and Alan, Bill, Cyril, Fergie, Georgie, Heather, Margaret, Owen, Tim, Tom, Robert (the husband), and yours truly madly (I’m always out of order TeeHee). We had the most fantastic day. Only moan is that the home team got beaten by the visitors. BooWhoo.
The club always puts on food for the players so the kitchen was going like billyo all day and as if that weren’t enough there was a BBQ in the evening. We couldn’t stay for that which is a pity.
BRFC is extremely well run and operated. Kids are welcome and all in all it is a great family oriented place to go for an all-round great day out. Credit to all involved.
Baby Numpty joined us back at the homestead and His Lordship made cocktails (aka a real mess). Never ask that man to make a Brandy Alexander. He and me decided to Karaoke. HaHaHaHa … the dogs were howling but we managed to drown them out in the end.
Functioning on Sunday was like wading through treacle. I nearly dislocated my jaw yawning. Unable to face going out for another big feed for Sunday lunch as planned, we slouched around and moaned about sore heads. Except for his Lordship! He was all bright eyed and bushy tailed as he had been wise enough to stick to fizzy orange on Saturday afternoon. It only took me 5/6 hours to make a very late meal.
That has made my day! Couldn't have put it better myself. Ans all in your inimitable way, Mandy. xox A thousand thanks for your kindness, generosity, hospitality and exemplary humanity, precious.
ReplyDeleteMeant to add: how I relished that facial lick back at Calhame. Molly almost went down my throat. What a gal! Talk about a peck on the kisser LOL
