HARD TIMES

We are set for another winter of discontent to rival that of the bad old days of the Miners Strikes.
The weather is set to be brutal as early as mid-October.

With OAP’s winter fuel allowance about to be cut it is up to us to make sure our elderly neighbours are as well and as warm as possible. We all need to pull together if we are going to survive the financial crisis and it’s far reaching, devastating aftermath. It is akin to WWI or WWII.

If it wasn’t for society banding together in those days and helping each other we would all have been sucked into Fascism.

It’s a slightly different form of nightmare today, although greed is always in play. The Nazi’s robbed the Jewish people before slaughtering them. Even Swiss bankers have been discovered to have hidden deposits made by Jews who never made it through the Holocaust.

Modern day robbers are working in “the city” and Wall Street et al. They wear suits and ties instead of jackboots but it amounts to the same in my opinion. We are constantly being manipulated by the so called “powers that be” and they are often hiding behind corporate shields. Politicians are a case in point. The expenses scandal has never been fully explained and I for one would like to know what has been done to stop this kind of rip off. I want my tax dollars spent on education and health care not some rich MP's bloody mortgage payments and taxi fares.
Carol McGiffin said on Loose Women that the PMs apology for making a sexist remark to a female member of parliament was not so much a real sorry for what he said but sorry “IF” he offended anyone. I think political correctness has gone a tad wild but there is a world of difference between a genuine apology and a spin to mop up political collateral damage. Bill Clinton looked straight into the camera and said he did not have sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky. It was a blatant lie. Senators voted to acquit him of perjury and saved him from impeachment. What a joke! As Carol said, there was no apology from government or Tony Blair for taking us to an illegal war. That war escalated and is costing life and limb to our troops who have been denied proper kit and are dying needlessly. Add to that the fortune it is costing that should have been spent at home in education and health care and winter fuel for the needy and you understand why peeps are striking and rallying.

Don’t worry about the bankers though peeps. They are still awarding themselves bonuses and I’m damned if I know where they are getting the money … Oh wait a moment! Could it be that they are using our deposited savings to play with? Or are they dipping into the pot of gold that is stashed under their corporate beds or in the wife’s name? I bet they are still speculating … oh oh! I sound like a banker betting on a sure thing when there is no such thing in their cut throat world. They will tell you that people were happy to jump on the profit band wagon but the truth is they instigated what was never going to be a sustainable boom. Now we are in the grip of bust.

Be under no illusions my dears. We are in for a very bad time indeed.
