The Celtic Tiger has crashed and burned. Ireland isn’t the only economy to fall foul of the boom and bust mentality.
What I can’t understand is why people allowed themselves to be sucked into an unsustainable and disastrous future in the first place. But I have an idea.
It was bad enough when we got a mortgage and realised we would have to pay Alliance & Leicester 3 times the cost of the house over 25 years.
Something else that stuck in my craw was to have to insure the house with Zurich via our solicitor and building society and being charged an arm and a leg for it. It took me years to realise that Zurich had applied the cost of the insurance to our A & L mortgage account before we had even got the keys to the property. They then applied interest to that.
I may be a numpty but I am no fool and I have the paperwork to prove that Zurich had to refund the interest they charged us. But I also have to take issue with our solicitors. Greer, Hamilton and Gailey.
They chose to ignore the fact that there was a boundary issue with the property we were buying. We only found out years later when we were selling it. Talk about nightmare!
We engaged a fantastic solicitor from a firm called Wilson Nesbitt.
Our solicitor did everything possible to help with the boundary problem and solved it. No thanks to Hugh Clarke who badmouthed them and told us they were paralegal’s … not proper solicitors. We were shocked by the comments he made and passed them on to our solicitor. She was devastated and angry. I promised to report him to the law society and I rang them. Turned out they do not talk to the public. Only to lawyers.
Well peeps. Thanks to the power of free speech on the internet I can finally point out that you can’t trust anyone.
Greer, Hamilton & Gailey kept the money for our house for quite a long time. They did not pay us interest. Wilson and Nesbitt paid us interest for the period of time they had the money.
Which is the greedy, dishonest firm?
It’s taken me a long time to expose this but I hope Christine Farrell and Wilson Nesbitt’s names are finally cleared.
