BOGOF (or so it seemed)

The long suffering husband, Tyler Smurf and yours truly madly went to Coleraine for a Big Mac on Saturday.  First stop was Pets At Home to look at the bunnies and bugs and fish. The husband was going to eat a bug because he was really hungry so off we went in search of sustenance. I thought they were doing buy one; get one (or three) free ‘cause it was packed to overflowing. The queue inside and at the drive through was very long indeed. The staff are amazingly fast and helpful. They were getting it tight but even so, they were really pleasant and could teach the staff in a place in the next lot a thing or two.
There were wedding party peeps in for a lunch-munch and they certainly added a bit of glamour. Karate Kids and NeeNah NeeNah police driving in for quickies. Big Peeps sitting-in for MacFlurry’s.
After lunch we did a shop and had the sense to get a big trolley this time. I am trying to teach Smurf how to save energy by putting one product on the belt and telling the checkout peep how many others we have. That saves lifting everything out and it saves them having to run it all through the till. They can just key in the number of items and avoid repetitive strain injury. As Smurf was paying no attention as usual I told the lovely guy at the checkout that I was ready for the hills or the funny farm and I believe he grinned at the latter. Try spending a week with that wee Numpty who would argue a black crow white and see if you don’t end up in therapy Pet. LOL
Off to Jolley’s next for tropical fish. I will backtrack and explain … Smurf and I bought a tank the last time we went out with the husband’s credit card. I know! I am bad to the bone but he was being grumpy so I thought what the hell! Go mad.
It takes time to set it up and add good bacteria to the water. Smurf was champing at the bit to get the fish. It’s a kid thing … are we there yet? Are we there yet? Where’s my dinner. Parents will get it! Thankfully I can hand the little monsters back.
We got some lovely wee coloured fish and two suckers on Saturday. The guy was really nice and gave us lots of advice, albeit not enough of the right stuff. Not your fault kiddo. The husband was rabbiting on if you recall and forgot to buy food.
We are going to buy our fish from Hippy and James at Fish ‘n’ Fin from now on. Hippy really knows his stuff and supplied the husband with the correct fish food. The wee suckers would not have survived because a new tank has no algae for them to feed on. They are thriving Hippy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I would have been gutted if the wee boys had died. The tank looks great.
On to the MOANING … Kelly took Smurf, wreck the house Ruby and baby Summer to the JDLC for a swim. They were turned away because it closes at 6.00 pm at weekends. I didn’t think that place could get anymore user unfriendly. Surely the weekend is the most precious time that working parents have to spend with their children. Closing early is strange indeed.
I took the Munchkins for a splash and swim on Sunday and we had a great time. We met some lovely peeps and little freaks. Of course Ruby was her usual self and ran riot. We thought she was a goner at one point when she went under and made no attempt to surface. Tyler is so good with her; patient and loving.
After the exercise we were all hungry and went to SuperBites. Believe me, it is well named. I near dropped when our tea arrived. The staff are really friendly and were happy to give us carry out containers. I defy anyone to manage to eat the feed you get. The Chicken a la King is delish. The husband had the sirloin with all the trimmings and the kids ate all the burger, chips and goujons. That hardly ever happens.
We don’t eat out that often but when you have nieces to stay it is a treat and we sure have had the best. Tyler wants to go to Molly’s next. I can’t wait for the Chicken Tikka Masala. Libby also makes a lovely hot port on a cold day. Heaven.
